[공모 내용]
Call for submissions – Collect data in four different countries!
The Open Probability-based Panel Alliance (OPPA) consists of four probability-based panels:the GESIS Panel in Germany, the LISS Panel in the Netherlands, the Korean AcademicMultimode Open Survey (KAMOS) in South Korea, and the Understanding America Study(UAS) in the USA. The Alliance facilitates cross-cultural survey research with probability basedpanels across the globe, endorsing joint methodological standards to yieldrepresentative data.
In order to showcase the alliance, we would like to invite you to collect your data withinOPPA free of charge. Future data collection, though, will follow the pricing schemes that canbe found on the OPPA website.
How to submit your study proposal within OPPA
We welcome submissions from researchers at universities or research institutes and fromvarious disciplines. Proposals can be submitted by email tosubmission@openpanelalliance.org no later than 17 June 2018 (11:59 pm PST).
Overall requirements
The proposal should contain
● name, address, affiliation;
● a brief description of the cross-cultural research questions (about 1 page) and
● a preliminary version of the complete set of proposed survey questions in English(including question sources if applicable).
The questionnaire should not exceed five minutes. The data will be published without anembargo.
OPPA member-specific requirements
All probability-based survey panels collect high-quality, representative data either solely orpartly through online questionnaires. Please make sure your questionnaire fits the differentrequirements for data collection of the partners in OPPA:
The GESIS Panel is part of GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim,Germany and offers the social science community a unique opportunity to collect survey datawithin a probability-based mixed-mode access panel (i.e., with web-based and mail surveys).Because there is also a paper-and-pencil questionnaire, it is necessary, for example, thatyour proposed questionnaire does not include multimedia elements or question types thatuse Flash. Further, the topic has to be relevant for everyone living in Germany. The GESISPanel offers extensive guidelines on how to submit a study at GESIS Panel Survey StyleGuide (for this call, though, only sections 1, 2 and 3.3 are of particular importance).
The LISS Panel (Longitudinal Internet studies for the Social Sciences) has been in fulloperation since October 2007. The panel is based on a true probability sample of Dutchhouseholds drawn from the population register by Statistics Netherlands. Households thatcould not otherwise participate are provided with a computer and Internet connection. Panelmembers complete online questionnaires every month of about 30 minutes in total. They arepaid for each completed questionnaire. Part of the interview time available in the LISS panelis reserved for the LISS Core Study. This longitudinal study is repeated yearly and isdesigned to follow changes in the life course and living conditions of the panel members. Alldata collecting in the LISS panel are made available through the LISS data archive. Moreinformation can be found here: www.lissdata.nl. Proposed questions must becomprehensible to all respondents, and should not be offensive or culturally inappropriate toany group.
KAMOS is conducted by the Center for Asian Public Opinion Research & Collaboration
Initiative (CAPORCI) at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, South Korea. It is a
nationally representative survey of the Korean adult population. The panel is regularly
refreshed via face-to-face interviews. Panel members can choose whether to be invited to
participate in future surveys online or by phone. More information about KAMOS can be
found on our website.
The Understanding America Study (UAS) is housed within the Center for Economic andSocial Research (CESR) at Dornsife College, University of Southern California in the UnitedStates. This online, nationally representative, probability-based survey panel is recruitedthrough address based sampling methods. Tablets with internet access are provided towilling participants who do not have use of a computer or internet at home. Respondentsreceive at least one survey a month, update their demographics questionnaire quarterly.Surveys are translated from English to Spanish whenever possible. More information aboutUAS as well as access to our prior 125+ existing surveys can be found on our datapages.
We look forward to receiving your proposal!
